In a stunning act of hypocritical fat-shaming, local chubby man Derek McGraw said of a female co-worker, “If Sarah lost, like, just 10 pounds, she would be so much hotter.”
The statement immediately inspired the scorn of colleague Tanisha Goodwin, who commented, “The same could be said of you, Derek.”
Mr. McGraw then expressed his dissatisfaction with Ms. Goodwin, and stormed off back to his office cubicle that was slightly too small for his comfort.
In an interview with The Halfway Post after the incident, Goodwin acknowledged that her bitter reaction may have hurt Mr. McGraw’s feelings, but that she was sick of fat men fat-shaming women.
“Women don’t exist purely to please men as objects of their sexual fantasy,” she said. “Derek always makes these comments about women as if the women he thinks are slightly too overweight for his taste would ever go out with him or ever even entertain the idea of doing anything even remotely sexual with him. And he’s fat, too. There’s nothing wrong with him being a little overweight, of course, I’m just remarking on the shameless hypocrisy of his preposterous physical expectations of the women around him.”
Well said, Ms. Goodwin.
