America’s Farmers Are Getting What They Voted For

This exactly the problem of Democrats. Whether it’s Jesus, guns, abortion, libertarianism, or any other wedge issue that convinces conservatives to never trust a Democrat, even as their Republican representatives consistently fuck them over with the sociopathic financial darwinism of contemporary Republican economics.

But Trump’s stamp on the economy takes the oligarchy to a surreal new height of nonsense. Trump bailed out farmers in his first term, and now soybean farmers and meat exporters are again in trouble with China boycotting American sellers. Meanwhile, Trump is bailing out Argentina to the tune of $20 billion, and Argentina just happens to be the country China is buying now from instead of the US.

Hey, Republicans, what exactly is conservative about this wild governmental chaos in the market? And by squashing American exports, Trump is politically compelled to bail out this key agricultural constituency of his political base with handouts turning them into governmental dependencies.

Speaking of, here’s a persuasive rant:

Trump just announced 100% tariffs on China, a number so impulsively high as to be insulting to foreign exporters. It’s also absurd for US importers and US consumers.

Also, what exactly is the negotiating here supposed to be? What is the carrot for avoiding such a stick? Trump could have announced that he’d start off at 10% and raise it 5% every month that China doesn’t do X, Y or Z. But instead he just announces, “Fuck you, 100%” and drops the mic. It’s like a temper tantrum, a negotiating boardroom tactic of flipping the game board. To my outside perspective, it just seems lazy.

Where’s the famous dealmaking we constantly hear about? There’s never deals! Our own government is literally shut down right now! lol Our Congress has not shown up for work practically all summer! If Trump can’t make a deal to keep his own government open, how is he going to make a deal with a serious adversary like China? Republicans control the ENTIRE government with the executive branch, both chambers of Congress, and the Supreme Court! Republicans are incompetent and rudderless with a moron demagogue who has hijacked the party.

And the dumbest part of the Chinese trade warring is that Trump keeps TACO-ing! This whole year he has been making arbitrary and impulsive threats, and then backing down at the last minute. Will this time finally be different, or is he just market manipulating for the oligarchy?

But now the world’s exporters and importers are in limbo, defeats Trump’s stated goal of bringing back manufacturing because what company will make a massive investment building a factory in the States when they have no idea what global and domestic markets will look like in three months, let alone the two to five years it would take to get up and running.

There’s a lot riding on the midterms, and I hope Democrats can rise and meet the moment.

I hope American democracy is not cooked because history ubiquitously suggests autocratic parties, such as the one Trump leads that is currently racing to institute Project 2025’s neo-monarchy, don’t normally shrug after losing popular support with an, “Oops, we failed to hold up our end of the bargain with the people where we said we would end the wars on day one, and make the economy great again, and lead to peace and prosperity, here you go, minority power party, here are the keys to the government because we deserved to lose!”

One good thing is we do have an election coming up next year organized by individual states, and many people vote early so mass Election Day shenanigans are extremely hard to pull off. 🥃
