Washington D.C.—
President Donald Trump participated in a brief question-and-answer session during a White House event honoring Black-owned businesses today, and gave some interesting remarks about who his favorite president was:
“My favorite president? That’s a tough one. I like them all. They’re all great. Some of the best presidents of all time. Can I say myself? I’m one of the best, don’t you think? [The audience was silent.] Well, Lincoln is up there, Washington is up there, but I guess I’d have to say my favorite president was Martin Luther King, Jr. You know, a lot of people don’t know this, but he was assassinated. He had it very tough. Almost as tough as me. He didn’t have the horrible, evil press that I have today, I guarantee it. He’d be glad he was only shot if he knew about some of the mean, unfair questions I get from some of the nastiest female journalists. He wouldn’t believe the fake news I have to deal with. If he had to do one interview with Megyn Kelly, or Savannah Guthrie, or Leslie Stahl, oh boy! He had it so lucky there weren’t any hormonal females in the media back then. But I love Martin. He did a great job. He didn’t get the Black unemployment rating as low as I did, and he never got the stock market over 30,000 like I have, but he tried his best. I wonder how he’d feel if he knew about the presidential harassment I have to deal with. He only had to deal with racism, but they never tried to impeach him for being Black like they’ve tried to impeach me for winning so much for America. It’s just horrible. And after me and Martin, I’d say my next favorite president is Washington. Did you know he was offered the role of being king and he turned it down? What an idiot! I’d love to be king for life, but Joe Biden is cheating so much and won’t let me have any more terms!”
