According to a Republican senator, who asked not to be named, President Donald Trump is trying to convince Speaker of the House Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to introduce bills in their respective chambers that would replace the US flag and its stars and stripes for an image of Trump’s electoral college victory over Hillary Clinton.
“It’s all he talked about at the Republican healthcare meetings,” said the senator. “He very clearly hadn’t read any of the policy packets we sent him, but he just kept saying ‘Hear me out on this fellas.’”
Another republican senator reached out to The Halfway Post and reported that Trump offered several designs:
“One had pictures of Hillary Clinton’s face in all the states he won beneath red ‘X’s.’”
“Another had big dollar signs over all the swing states he won.”
“His third design had a legend in the bottom right corner with red states labeled “Big, Beautiful, Amazing States,” and blue states labeled “Fake States.”
“And a fourth design was blatantly misleading, suggesting erroneously that he had won every state in the election.”
The current US flag has been in use since 1960, following the addition of Hawai’i into the Union, and Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has refused to comment on the President’s flag designs.
